A Breast Lift May Be Right for You If You Have These Signs of Ptosis

Breast Lift Troy MI

Age, genetics, gravity and hormone fluctuations can affect skin elasticity and appearance. Women often struggle with lax skin and drooping breasts (ptosis) as they get older and go through life changes, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause. It’s a natural part of aging, but some women experience more severe breast ptosis than others and wish to restore a perkier, younger bust with breast lift.

You can schedule a consultation with Dr. Mune Gowda in Troy and Novi to determine if breast lift or another breast surgery will help you reach your cosmetic goals for your breasts. The breasts go through changes just like other parts of the body, causing nipple changes, sagging tissues and loss of volume.

Breast lift with our board-certified plastic surgeon may be right for you if you have the following breast concerns:

1. Your Breast Tissue Sags Below the Breast Crease

Breast ptosis can be minor or severe and comes down to the location of your breast tissue compared to the inframammary fold (breast crease) under the breast. If the bottom section of your breast is in line with the breast creases or just below, you likely have little to no breast ptosis. When the breasts droop to the point where the nipple is in line with or below the inframammary fold, you have some degree of breast ptosis. Significant breast drooping happens when the upper portion or pole of the breast tissue droops below the breast crease.

2. Your Nipples Point Downward or are Disproportionate to Your Breasts

Gravity, hormones and having children affects the nipples in several ways. The areolas (pigmented skin around the nipples) may expand and be disproportionate to the amount of breast tissue, and the nipples may point downward with significant drooping. The breast lift procedure elevates and tightens the breast tissues, removes excess skin and improves nipple position, direction and size. The nipples are relocated to a higher place within the breast tissue, and breast lift can reduce nipple size for a balanced, youthful breast appearance.

3. You Have Breast Volume Loss or a Deflated Breast Appearance

Pregnancy, nursing and menopause affect breast shape and size. Significant breast ptosis can make the breasts appear deflated due to volume loss and sagging tissues in the upper pole of the breast. Breast lift tightens and repositions the breast tissue and can be combined with breast augmentation with implants to restore fullness.
